The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which are revised every five years, are the basis for standards in the Federal Food Service Guidelines, and encourage U.S. residents to eat a healthful diet. The Dietary Guidelines may be used by nutrition educators and health professionals, as well as policymakers.
